Atypical Artists is a producer of audio fiction that spans genres, scope, and formats, from a diverse set of creators, all focused on one singular mission: make neat stuff with neat people. Led by Lauren Shippen, the studio grew out of her successful science fiction podcast The Bright Sessions.

The Bright Sessions – a show about people with supernatural abilities in therapy – has been downloaded tens of millions of times, spawned three young adult novels, and became an audio drama classic. Since then, Atypical Artists has produced a slate of similarly beloved shows–from the format-breaking musical podcast In Strange Woods, to the cozy romances of Greenhouse and Look Up, and the science fiction romcom Life With LEO(h). Lauren has continued to make her own original work with the daily Breaker Whiskey and the yearly New Year’s Day.
